Job description

Hangzhou Dipont School of Arts and Science (in partnership with King's College School, Wimbledon and RDFZ Beijing) is seeking to appoint a Head of International to play a key role in the leadership and management of King’s College International School, Hangzhou for an August 2026 start.

The Head of the International School serves as the strategic and operational leader for all aspects of the international division. This role requires an individual committed to academic excellence, pastoral wellbeing, and the development of an internationally minded school culture that reflects both Western and Chinese educational strengths.

The Head of International School reports to the Executive Principal and is accountable to the Board of Governors, representing Hangzhou local government, RDFZ, King’s College School Wimbledon, and Dipont Education.

About the Role

The Head of International School responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • To assume overall responsibility for the day‐to‐day management and development of the International School.  

  • To be responsible for the annual evaluation of all teaching staff and to participate readily in his/her own annual evaluation.   

  • To seek to deliver the curriculum at all stages employing the best of Western and Chinese pedagogy.   

  • To determine and develop key skills within students which will equip them for success at future stages of their education and in life.   

  • To lead and supervise the division’s review cycle and conduct regular (minimum quarterly) reviews of learning data to ensure students achieve outcomes aligned with their abilities.

  • To ensure effective communication which includes appropriate involvement of staff in decision‐making.   

  • To endeavour to build close links with the community which the School serves, encouraging parental involvement where appropriate.    

  • To ensure that the health and safety requirements of all pupils, students and staff learning and working are met.   

  • To create an on‐going culture of professional development of staff and contribute personally towards this end where possible.   

  • To actively engage with the school community by strengthening parents communication, supporting key school activities, and attending Parent Association meetings.

  • To lead and support admission and promotional activities to enhance student enrollment.

  • To recognise the multi‐cultural nature of the student body and the School’s Chinese setting and utilise both to promote internationalism as an important part of the School’s mission.   

  • To support the establishment of a rich co‐curricular programme and a supportive pastoral system.   

  • To ensure that the four sections of the School operate as one.  


About KCIS

KCIS is a warm, collaborative international school in China, home to a diverse community of educators and learners. Its teaching staff represent more than ten countries, while its 130 students—spanning Grades 1 to 10—come from over twenty different nationalities. The school follows the English National Curriculum in Grades 1–8, with students progressing to the IGCSE pathway in Grades 9 and 10.

The salary and benefit package for this important position is commensurate with these aims. In addition to a highly competitive salary, the package includes high-quality housing, flights and medical insurance for employee and dependents. Full tuition support will be provided for any successful applicant with school-age children. The position will be offered on an initial three-year contract term with annual renewal thereafter.

Job requirements

  • Current Teacher and Administration Certificate/License/Documentation

  • Master’s Degree (Education Administration preferred)

  • Teaching and Administration experience (minimum 10 years preferred)

  • Demonstrated successful leadership, organization and management skills

  • Proven effective communication, public relations and collaborative skills

  • Professional commitment to the successful implementation of an enriched international curriculum

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to contribute to the general welfare of the total School program
