Job description

THE DEBATE PROGRAM

Research. Evidence. Structure. These are the cornerstones of the debate program. In debate, we teach students contentions, claims, support, and impact, as well as help them with flow, rebuttal and framework. Not only is it about debate but the skills needed to conduct research, construct an argument, make solid definitions, and public speaking.

The Dipont Debate program guides students from the basics of debate through to topic analysis and on to advanced strategies and principles for tournament-level debaters. Students learn how to research topics and craft effective arguments on a variety of current event topics. Dipont organizes tournaments across China so that our students have opportunities to compete both locally and nationally.

This full-time position typically requires a commitment from 9:00am to 6:00pm, Wednesday through Sunday, ensuring comprehensive coverage for our students' needs. Coaches are tasked with a blend of classroom instruction and lesson preparation, and to work with classes ranging in size from 3 to 20, depending on the location and class. All instructors teach a combination of speech & debate and public speaking of all levels, culminating in the exciting annual tournament, fostering an environment of growth and learning.

We are seeking a candidate with leadership skills to lead and grow our Speech and Debate program. At Dipont Education, we offer a dynamic curriculum developed by seasoned professionals with decades of experience. You will work closely with parents, ensuring clear communication and collaboration. Additionally, you will guide students in preparing for competitive formats such as Public Forum Debate, British Parliamentary, Model United Nations, and more. This role requires initiative, creativity, and a passion for driving the program's success.

While Chinese language skills are a plus, they are not required, as all instruction is delivered in English, and our multilingual support staff assist with communication as needed. In this role, you will regularly engage with parents to communicate student progress and promote the program, helping to expand its reach. Our instructors share a passion for education, travel, and fostering success in students.
