Job description

The Debate program

At Dipont Education, our Speech and Debate program empowers students with the core skills of critical thinking, persuasive communication, and evidence-based argumentation. Through our curriculum, students master the fundamentals of structured debate - flow, rebuttal, frameworks - and develop a strong foundation in research, public speaking, and teamwork.

We guide learners from the basics to advanced tournament-level strategies, using real-world current events to sharpen their understanding and engagement. Students participate in local and national tournaments hosted across China, giving them valuable competitive experience and exposure.

Curriculum

Dipont Education has its own curriculum designed by speech and debate professionals with decades of experience. Speech and Debate classes also prepare students for competition in formats such as Public Forum Debate, Original Oratory, British Parliamentary, World Schools, Model United Nations, Extemporaneous Speaking, as well as others.

Teachers are also given the autonomy to adapt the curriculum to their strengths as a teacher and the needs of a student. We are not a center that expects teachers to just teach straight out of a book!

As a classroom instructor and program leader in Hangzhou. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping student outcomes while also contributing to the strategic growth of the program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach students in preparation for local and national tournaments.

  • Develop and adapt lesson plans aligned with curriculum goals and student needs.

  • Mentor students in research, critical thinking, and persuasive communication.

  • Collaborate with fellow educators to improve instructional strategies and curriculum design.

  • Support program development initiatives, including curriculum enhancement and tournament planning.

  • Provide student feedback and maintain open communication with parents as needed.

Your Typical Schedule

This full-time role involves a five-day workweek, including Saturdays and Sundays, with two consecutive days off scheduled between Monday and Friday. You'll balance classroom instruction with dedicated time for lesson planning and student support. Instructors teach all levels, leading to the annual tournament, fostering growth and learning.

  • Spring & Fall: Teach up to 20 hours per week, balancing weekday B2B courses at our partner schools with weekend classes at the center.

  • Winter & Summer Camps: Focus on center-based teaching, with up to 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

The Team

Our team is a dynamic mix of local Chinese professionals and international educators. If you’re looking for a globally-minded, collaborative work culture, you’ll thrive here. All classes are conducted in English, and while Mandarin proficiency is a plus, it’s not required - our multilingual support team is here to assist with translation and communication when needed.

Our instructors come from diverse backgrounds but share a common passion for education, cultural exchange, and student success.
